"MI SUN, GET UP AND WALK"

She was raised in South Korea as a Buddhist. We met about 20 years ago and began to have deep spiritual conversations. We understood what each other was saying; we just put it in different words. When I explained to her about God creating us in His own image, she got it and applied it. But still she felt religion was basically foolish…. until something happened a year and a half ago that changed everything.

“I felt something was going on, so I told the storekeeper next door I was going home. She came by the house later because she was worried about me. I told her I felt odd and could she help me to the bathroom. She did and the next thing I knew I was on the floor and had no feeling in my body.

My mind was perfectly okay but I couldn’t move my hands or arms or legs. I felt I was having a stroke. My husband passed away eight years ago and I didn’t have any kids so I was ready to go. I asked my friend to pull me into the other room by the fireplace and I told her I didn’t want her to take me to the hospital because if it was my time to go I wanted to experience it. She said okay, but she’d have to go home and print out a form to sign so she wouldn’t be in trouble over this decision. I laid in front of the fireplace and started to close my eyes to slip away. I said, ‘If there’s anything more, I want it.’ Then it happened.

I heard a strong male voice command, ‘Mi Sun, Get up and walk!’ Like a child I did just that. I started to move, got up and walked around in the house. Then I went outside and kept walking. That’s when my friend came back and saw me. She was shocked. ‘Okay, now take me to the hospital. I want to find out if there is any medical explanation for what happened.’”

They kept Mi Sun overnight and did all sorts of tests and found nothing wrong. She knew it was a miracle and that the God I’d told her about was for real. She told me that since that day everything is different. And even in the time I visited her in her shop, she mentioned God several times in our conversation and with others who came in also.

All the many years of Christmas conversations, and this was the best of all—to find out that the Lord personally visited my friend and got her born again.

YOU'RE BLEEDING - Beneath the Veil no.50

A couple days ago I read something that really bothered me. It kept twisting into my soul like a corkscrew into a cork. Today I had to get it out.

I told my best friend how twisted up I was getting. She listened and helped me to see things in a different perspective. Then I was completely clear again.

We all encounter rough patches in our thinking. Some preachers like to indicate that it won't happen if we do "the right things" but I don’t believe that. And I don’t see it documented in the scriptures either. The Bible is full of people who overcome problems, not people living perfect spiritual lives without any problems.

Life happens and we can't stop everything the devil throws at us before it hits our personal space, penetrates and sometimes causes us to bleed.

We have the Lord Jesus Christ; we have the Bible; we have angels; but sometimes we forget that we have each other. And it’s not a sin to ask for help. In fact the Lord tells us we are to confess our faults one to another, so we can get help. It doesn’t do us any good to keep things bottled up inside. If you were physically bleeding from an area of your body that you couldn’t reach, you’d find someone to put a compress on that area to stop the bleeding. It’s the same with us mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We have been given other people in the body of Christ to help stop the bleeding.

One of the biggest errors I see is that we often hesitate to ask. Pride gets in the way. Asking for help is sometimes hard, but we have to remember that not only does it help us to get our answer, but it also gives someone else in the body of Christ a chance to do some problem solving. It’s really a very healthy exchange, if taken in the right light.

I believe that as we head into 2014, honesty in the body of Christ and asking for help when we need it will make our bonds tighter and our overall strength increase.

CYNICAL SUSPICIONS - SHEEP OR WOLF

A guy at work told me his parents had a large wholesale floral business and one day his dad walked in on a trusted employee who was signing a large check to herself. She was embezzling. After the legal hassles they decided to go into the retail floral business and once again they were embezzled to the tune of several million dollars. Here in Las Vegas, one tends to see too much of this—embezzling, fraud, bait and switch, etc. It’s easy to get cynical and suspicious of people in this kind of environment. So, as Christians, what do we do?

Jesus said, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:16). Wisdom comes from God. Not everyone out there is a wolf. There are plenty of sheep in God’s flock that we just haven’t met yet and only the Holy Spirit can help us decipher who is what.

We become wise as serpents by listening to the Spirit of Christ within. If we have suspicions, we ask for God’s wisdom and then believe what He shows us and act on it. Meanwhile we can stay harmless as doves by doing our best to try to see people through the Lord’s eyes. Again, we can ask for wisdom regarding this, “Lord how do You see this person?”

At this time of year, when we travel and may be in situations where there are lots of new people around us, we want to walk in the wisdom of the Lord.  In any situation we are not alone. We have the Lord Jesus with us. And “if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5). The Lord is generous with His wisdom and He doesn’t get mad at us if we ask for some.

HOLY SPIRIT TEACHES SOMETHING NEW - Beneath the Veil no.49

SOMETHING TOTALLY NEW

When I get on the plane this Sunday I will have completed 13 straight days of work without a break and some of them with overtime and oddball hours. Though I’m a little tired, it’s been a great blessing and the people I work with at both companies are so talented and a real joy to work with. On Sunday, however, I start something totally new.

I’m going on vacation! I was thinking how happy I will be to have plenty of time in the airport and on the bus, just to read my Bible and learn some new things. I already know that the Holy Spirit is ready to show me and teach me. Jesus said, “The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things” (John 14:26)

That’s what happens when we read the Bible with expectation. We ask the Holy Spirit to teach us new things and our affirmative action is to read. The words on the page aren’t going to talk to us unless we read them and sometimes we get so busy we get out of the habit. So I’m really looking forward to having some good chunks of time for reading.

God promises to teach us new things when we read His words and hear Him. “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear” (Mark 4:23). Well, we have ears, right? Isaiah 48:6 says “Thou hast heard, see all this. I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.” What this tells me is that there are still hidden things in the Bible that we never knew before. One job of the Holy Spirit is to teach those things to us.

Deuteronomy 29:29 tells us “the secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us.” What things will the Holy Spirit be revealing to us this Christmas season? I’m going into my Bible with expectation and my notebook. How about you?

PS: I bet there’s also some new things in my book that you’ve never thought about in quite the same way. You can get your copy from Amazon. Just look under my name. Happy discoveries.

PAIN OR GAIN

PAIN OR GAIN

“Ow! It hurts,” I moaned. My hardhat felt too tight and my head throbbed. Even my eyes hurt. I’d taken a couple ibuprofen but it wasn’t working so I complained out loud until I caught myself. If my head was going to stop hurting, I had to change what I was saying.

I repented and instead of saying what I had, I called for what I didn’t t have--healing. I said, “The Bible says by His stripes I’m healed. Head, you’re healed.” I called for what I didn’t have. That’s how faith works. Faith calls for things that are not, so that they come. It's like calling my cat. If I call, “Here kitty kitty, he doesn’t show up. But if I call the right thing, “Here Snickers,” he comes trotting down the hallway. The right things to call for are in the Bible.

Sometimes we start off good and we find a scripture or two that fit what we are calling for, but then we get distracted and let it go by the wayside and the problem returns. That's what happened to me. I started paying more attention to my head hurting than to the healing I was calling for.

I made myself stop and told myself, “You’ve been healed. Healing come here now, in the name of Jesus Christ.” I started to get distracted again so I gave my head a little swat with my hand and commanded, “Listen up. Stop hurting right now. I’m calling you healed by the stripes of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is in charge here, not you.” The pain went away and has never returned. The presence of health replaced the pain. God’s Word puts it this way: God has “chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought [zero] things that are” (1 Cor 1:28).

When it comes to the Bible we sometimes have trouble with calling “those things which be not as though they were” (Rom 4:17). But there are many things we do in every day life to call things in before we actually see them.

For example, you’ve been told there’s a Christmas present for you. You haven’t touched it yet nor actually seen it, but you’ve been told it’s there and you fully expect it. It works the same with God’s gifts from the Bible. If He says we have a present of protection (Psalm 91) then we do. If He says He has health for us, then we can call it to us.

Hebrews 11:1 says: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for.” What do we hope for? We hope for all the things God’s gifted us with. Second Peter 1:3 says He “hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness.” It’s our job to first do a little research to find them in the Bible then exercise our faith to receive them. We CALL for them. Jesus said, “If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might SAY unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you” (Luke 17:6). From this passage we see that “Faith Says.” I heard this morning an insight from Charles Capps: If you throw it into the sea, it could come washing back up, but if you plant it, it’s staying there. We plant it with words, God’s words. That’s how my head pain was. It never came back and that was several years ago.

God's promises of good health, freedom from disease, financial abundance, and good relationships—these are just some of the things God's provided for us. Second Corinthians 1:20 says: “All the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen.”  Amen means “so be it.” It's up to us to call the gift ours then follow the breadcrumbs the Lord Jesus gives, to get to the right results that are especially made for us. And as Peter found out: “God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right” (Acts 10:34-35 NLV). What God has made available for one person is available for any other person because He loves us all.

God only intends good for us. Any evil is only temporary and subject to change. Things change because we have Almighty God on our side. Jesus, His son, showed us how to use faith to call in any of the presents God’s already told us He has for us. Enjoy your presents this Christmas!

WHAT DOES JESUS WANT FOR HIS BIRTHDAY? Beneath the Veil no.48

As Christmas approached I asked the Lord Jesus what He’d like best for His birthday. I kept getting the same answer: “For you to be happy.” That couldn’t really be His answer, could it? I considered it and decided it DID make sense, since it was God’s original plan for us. He planned for a happy family, a family that would tend to the earth and work alongside Him, enjoying and expanding the Garden of Eden. So what happened?

Adam and Eve turned away from God and each generation got more corrupt and evil. Things got so horrible that “it repented the Lord that he made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart” (Genesis 6:6). People’s minds and hearts were so mean that “every imagination was only evil continually” (Gen 6:5). WOW! Can you even imagine what it would be like for a person to have ALL evil thoughts ALL the time?!

When the flood overtook the earth and wiped out the evil people, only Noah and his family survived. But there was still sin in the blood because it went all the way back to Adam.

But new blood was on the way. With the explosive event of Jesus’ birth, there was just one baby boy with uncontaminated, non-rebellious blood. That was a HUGE event and no wonder a multitude of angels showed up and rejoiced!

Jesus got His blood from His Father God. He didn’t get his blood from his mother. If He had, it would have been contaminated just like everyone else’s, but in the womb, the mother’s blood doesn’t even mix with the baby’s. So Jesus’ blood was not prone to disobedience and rebellion. The same relationship God originally intended for mankind was now going to be available through believing in Jesus Christ.

Finally, God could have peace. Isaiah prophesied of the coming Messiah: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Prince of Peace.”

When a person accepts Jesus as Lord, he or she receives new life. Leviticus says that the life is in the blood. And we receive the blood of Jesus. The old sin is wiped out, forgiven and forgotten. Holy Spirit comes to live on the inside and that changes every single cell of our bodies. Our part is to believe it and receive it.

Christmas is all about God’s gift to mankind. He gave us peace through His son Jesus Christ. And in doing that, God Himself has peace in knowing that some will accept His gift and share it with others.

THE ROAR IS HORRIFYING

BOISTEROUS WINDS AND ROARING LIONS

Too often believers get sucked into what the world is saying and then get trapped into thinking like the unbelieving world thinks, instead of how God thinks. In 2 Corinthians the devil is called "the god of this world," so it makes sense that the things of this world will try to take us down. But the Lord gives us instructions through Paul:

"Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]" (Rom 12:2 AMP).

We need to stop listening to people constantly saying how bad things are. If we start talking about it and agreeing with them, we’re going to bring it into our own life, even if we actually have it pretty good. If we continue to look at and believe all the negatives that the media propounds, we won’t recognize the good when it does come. I experienced this recently.

The construction business in Las Vegas had slacked off. New casinos weren’t being built, so a lot of people, including me, were sitting at home waiting for the business to pick back up. I was off of work from my union painting job for a few months and had to hustle to make ends meet. I began to get somewhat fearful and depressed. I had things that I needed and I didn’t have the extra money in the bank to pay for those things. I was doing well and then what happened? I prayed for the money but I wasn’t seeing quick results and I still had the needs. I felt like I was sinking like Peter in Matthew 14:

"And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me" (Matthew 14:25-30).

Peter was walking on top of the water, spiritually on top of the world, but when he started paying attention to the blowing wind, he began to sink. We’ve heard the phrase, "she's full of hot air," or "he's such a blow-hard," which refers to someone who is just spouting off absurdities and foolishness. When Peter looked at and listened to the blow-hard wind, he got afraid and began to sink.

1 Peter 5:8 says: "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." Like the boisterous wind that Peter heard, the roar of a lion is loud, deep and horrifying. But it is still just a noise and it really can’t hurt anyone. However, since fear is believing on the negative side, if a person lets it take hold, the lion will definitely come to maim or kill. In actuality, the roar could be only a recording, totally deceptive and no lion there at all!

When I started listening to and looking at the roaring of financial instability, it said, "You can’t have what you need because you don’t have the money." I began to sink just like Peter did. I was getting fearful of the boisterous wind, fearful of the roaring of not enough money. But I immersed myself in teachings and scriptures about God being my supply and I began to say, "The Lord is my only source." Then I followed His instructions to me.

I thought I needed money for a medical bill, but the insurance decided to pay the whole thing. I thought I needed money for a portable DVD player to listen to Bible teachings on the way to work; the Holy Spirit told me I could use a laptop instead. I thought I needed money to buy a new oven since mine had quit working. The Lord told me to call the home insurance I have. They said they would cover it and I only had to pay $55. The boisterous wind and the roaring of the lion vanished entirely. God had totally answered my financial needs with very little of my own money.

John 10:10 says the devil is a thief and he's around only to steal, kill and destroy. The Lord’s mission is to give us an abundant wonderful life. Our God is diametrically opposed to the god of this world and we need to be too. We have to stop looking at circumstances the way the devil wants us to and put our focus on the Lord’s ways instead.

Think how much could be changed in our own life and the many lives we touch. The boisterous winds that predict our sinking and the roaring that says, "There’s not enough," can be replaced with walking victoriously through it all with our eyes focused only on the truly victorious one.

Love, Carolyn

QUESTIONS FOR PONDERING OR DISCUSSION

1. Can you think of a situation in which you started to get fearful because of something you heard or read? Were you able to reverse the situation?

2. Can you recall a time or two when someone started talking negatively about current circumstances and you joined in? How did you feel afterward? Was it profitable or would you consider reacting differently in a similar situation?

3. Have you had times when you’ve thought God should answer your prayer in one way and He answers it in a totally different way from what you expected? Explain.

4. Have you considered taking a day or a weekend to just focus on the Lord and not look at or listen to worldly things? If you haven’t done this, or if you are thinking about doing it, how would you plan your time? Would you pick certain teachings from preachers you like? Would you read particular sections from the Bible? What subjects would you focus on?

A FIERY BITE OF JALAPENO AND THE NAMES OF GOD - Beneath the Veil no.47

I chewed on a delicious bite of tempura jalapeno--spicy and HOT! I told my friend, "If food could remind you of the names of God, this one would definitely be the roaring fiery Lord of Hosts when He ascends like thunder and lightning to avenge one of His own!  " Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it" (Psalm 18:7-8). That's what the hot jalapeno reminded me of. So I asked myself, "What other food associations could I make to remind me of the varied and wonderful names of our God?"

Macaroni and cheese (voted America's number one comfort food) would have to be Jehovah-shalom, the Lord our peace. Broccoli and asparagus marinated in fresh lemon juice, olive oil and lemon pepper would be Jehovah-rophe, the Lord who heals me. A glass of good red wine at the end of a hard day, Jehovah-shammah, the Lord is here. For me, a comforting bowl of Malaysian curry says "the Lord is my shepherd," Jehovah-rohi.  The names for God in the Bible cover His multi-facetted character. Our God loves variety and we can see it all around us, even in the foods we eat.

I've included a list of some of the names used to describe God, and where they're used. Make up your own delicious food list as you look at some of these names. Bon Appetite!

Genesis 1:1 Elohim - God the creator
Genesis 17:1 El Shaddai - God who is more than enough
Genesis 22:4 Jehovah-jireh - The Lord who sees and provides (uncommon, unusual or unexpected provision)
Exodus 15:26 Jehovah-rophe - The healer
Exodus 17:15 Jehovah-nissi - The Lord my banner, my victory
Leviticus 20:7-8 Jehovah-mikkadesh - God who sets you apart
Jeremiah 23:5-6 Jehovah-tsidkenou - The Lord will make it right
Judges 6:23-24 Jehovah-shalom - The Lord my peace
Psalm 23 Jehovah-rohi - The Lord is my shepherd
Ezekiel 48:35 Jehovah-shamah - The Lord is here
Isaiah 13:13, James 5:4 Lord of Sabaoth - Lord of Hosts (hosts indicates masses of angels organized for war and includes all the physical elements as well) fiery and rescuing
Psalm 47:2 El Elyon - The Lord most high

"OH YES! HIS NAME IS SPIKE."

I went to put down the foot of my recliner, carefully avoiding bumping my little dog Spike. But he wasn’t there.

Yesterday he passed away. 14 years ago a young neighborhood boy stood by my roommate’s car with his dirty-face little sister. At the end of a short red leash he held a wiggly little white and brown soft-haired puppy with floppy ears and a waggy tail.  The boy’s head was turned down. He stared at the sidewalk and barely muttered, “My dad won’t let me keep him. We already have two dogs. Ma’am, could you take him?” That’s when I came over. We agreed to take the puppy. As the boy and his sister clasped hands and started to walk away, I asked, “Oh by the way, does he have a name?” The boy straightened right up, “Oh yes! His name is Spike.”

We miss him so much. He remained a happy, sweet wiggly dog with a smile on his face his whole life.

I’ll get past this, but for now I’m just sad, walking around in kind of a daze. Yesterday the Lord said to my roommate, “I am even concerned about EVERY sparrow.” Wow, God created even the most insignificant little birds out of love and cares about them too.
It will be great to see Spike again one day, in a place where there is no more death and no more sorrow.

“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. Be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create. The voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord” (Isaiah 65:17-19 and 25).

Rev 21:4-5 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Thanks for your prayers.

Love, Carolyn

EVERYONE NEEDS RED BULL FOR THE HOLIDAYS - Beneath the Veil no.46

I popped the top and took a sip of an energy drink called Red Bull. I was thinking I could use some Holy Spirit Red Bull right about now too, in preparation for the holidays. So what kind of Red Bull would it be?
Knowing the significance of Christ’s Red Blood sacrifice on the cross is one such powerful energizer. Refreshing myself in this knowledge will give me the power punch I need to prepare myself: to be gentle and kind, to yield to the Holy Spirit and be strong in Him too, to step out in love with confidence, to humbly acknowledge where I came from and excel in where I am now.
Take a short journey with me now through the seven bleedings of our Lord Jesus Christ and see what amazing things He’s given us. The Bible says that the “life is in the blood.” So in each area of His bleeding we have new life in that area.
The first bleeding for us was in the garden of Gethsemane when He prayed: “Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And his sweat was as it were great drops of blood” (Luke 22:41). Jesus was willing to do God’s will rather than His own. One drop of this sweat blood gives us the power we need to do God’s will rather than our own. “I CAN do God’s will.”
Jesus next was “scourged” by the Roman soldiers. They thrashed Him 39 times with a whip made of several leather pieces, each loaded with jagged metal or bone pieces that tore and ripped open strips of flesh on His back. The physical tearing of the flesh from His body would also leave gashes and wounds susceptible to disease. This point of bleeding covers all bodily things, including sickness, disease, and broken, torn or missing parts. 1 Peter 2:24 reminds us what Jesus gave us by enduring this suffering: “By whose stripes ye were healed.” We have access to total healing and no devil spirit or anything else has a right to talk us out of it.
The third place Jesus shed blood was from internal bruises. Isaiah tells us: “He was bruised for our iniquities.” Jesus was mocked and beaten. There was distress and swelling caused by broken capillaries and dislodged blood beneath the surface of the skin. When we believe the significance of this blood, it takes away any humiliation and deep emotional bruises we’ve carried—the wounds that we don’t want anyone to see.
The fourth bleeding was from the crown of thorns jammed into His skull. The blood from His head applied to our minds and we can think right thoughts, and make wise decisions like He always did.
Next they nailed Jesus’ hands and feet to the cross. The blood from his hands applied to our hands gives us unique power in our hands. Think about what we do with hands—we touch, write, make things, give things, stop things, clap, lift, and much more. Believing to let the blood from Jesus’ hands pulse in our own can change everything we touch. .
Number six is the blood from Jesus’ feet. It changes the path we can walk on. Matthew 7:14 tells us “strait is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life.” Though narrow, it is the path of dominion like God says in Deuteronomy 11:24 “Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours.” This will only be true when we walk in obedience to the ability the blood of Jesus has given us.
And lastly, number seven. When the soldier came to see if Jesus was dead he took his spear and pierced Him through the side—through His belly, His lungs and His heart—making sure His entire life force bled out. That bleeding gave us His entire life for eternity. The blood shed from His belly made available Holy Spirit to abide within our bellies, in our innermost self. As Jesus said, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” That’s what happens when we walk by the Spirit. The blood shed from His lungs made available new life in every breath. And the bleeding from His heart gave us the ability to extend that same love to everyone, like He did.
With this quick refresher, we can now be equipped and prepared for a loving and powerful holiday season.

COMBATTING TEEN SUICIDE

I was told about a 10-year-old girl who is continually cutting her wrists. Her dad is gone and has remarried and has a new family. Her mom is working long hours just to pay the bills. The girl is bullied at school. She feels abandoned and alone. She’s cutting her wrists to end her miserable life, crying out for attention.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death in ages 10 to 24. And there are as many as 25 suicides attempted for each one that is completed. We need to get to people BEFORE they complete the process at any age! So how can we help?
First of all, people need some attention from the ones they’re close to. Actions speak loudest and words come in a close second. I tried to think of things a mom could say to a 10-year-old suicidal child. For people who aren’t used to talking heart to heart, it might take some real effort to come up with truly meaningful, helpful and specific things to say. Where to start?
The Lord gave me an exercise that I’m going to share. I did it this morning and it only took about 30 minutes. I found it extremely valuable and I know you will too.
STEP 1- I took a piece of paper and down the far left side I put a list of positive characteristics. These are the ones I put (you can of course add your own): brave, supportive, kind, helpful, calming, needed, good listener, go getter, flexible, focused, guiding, encouraging, assuring, organized, actively moving toward goals, perceptive, prepared, provider, guarding, resolved, succeeding, transforming, repair, simplified, uncover, understanding, competent, increasing, unafraid, resourceful, winning, improving, comforting, good example, broadening, counselor, correcting, challenging, moving, clarifying, fun, hopeful, seeker, strong.
STEP 2- Down the middle of the paper I put the name of the person I live with, my family members, relatives I’ll be seeing or hearing from this holiday season, friends and work people.
STEP 3- Starting at the top of the list of names, I took a pen and connected the name with at least two characteristics from the first list. Next to the person’s name I wrote down an incident that showed the positive characteristic. It was great.
STEP 4- I plan to keep the list with me so I can either tell the person about the exercise, or tell them in person what positive characteristics I admire in them.
I’m sure it will be well worth the effort. And by the way, I know the mom of that 10 year old has been instructed in a similar manner to be able to help her daughter. Please pray for the both of them. Thanks.
Love, Carolyn

THE LORD IS PUSHY - Beneath the Veil no.45

When we had painting jobs that had to be done in a hurry, one of my favorite painters, a guy from El Salvador, had a saying that just cracked us up. He’d cock his head sideways, raise his eyebrows and say really slowly, “Dooooon’ push me!” We all adopted the saying and loved it. Sometimes we want to say that to the Lord. He gets pushy with us and we want to resist. “I want to stay right here. I’m pretty happy with things. Not in the mood to change things, thanks.” But the Lord says, “NOPE!”
Once He’s got us, He wants us to have the whole package. He wants us to grow. “Then He [Jesus] said, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree” (Luke 13:18-19). In Luke 17:21 Jesus tells us “the kingdom of God is within you.” The seed of God’s kingdom is a living thing and it’s supposed to grow like the mustard seed into a large tree within us. There’s nothing in the Word of God that says once we’ve learned a certain amount of Bible, we have the right to just stop that tree from growing any more. Quite the opposite.
The Lord just keeps pushing us to go further, learn more. In Revelation 3:20 Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” That’s not a one time thing. The Lord is always knocking. Second Corinthians 5:14 says, “The love of Christ constraineth us.” That means He just keeps coming, imploring us to go further, learn more, experience more of His presence and the new things He wants to show us.
You know when you’re being challenged to go further, so don’t settle. What’s He been pushing you toward lately? He’s knocking. Open the door.

DARE DEVILS

We’ve heard the term, but is it real? The answer is yes.
What is a dare devil? It is an evil spirit that dares people to do something that is obviously stupid, risky and life-threatening. It’s the spirit that quietly whispers, “What would happen if you just drove off this cliff?” “What would happen if you barely touched that hotwire?” When the dare comes, we always know in our conscience that it is wrong but we still wonder, “What would happen if I did it anyway?” The evil spirit says, “I dare you.”
My roommate told me the story of Loreen: “We played softball together and I knew her since she was 11. Loreen had a cocky attitude and liked to do dangerous and foolish things. She thought the consequences would never catch up to her. But ultimately she died in a gunshot accident at 27 years old.” There was a construction accident here in Las Vegas where a guy fell into an open elevator shaft. The area was cordoned off in red danger tape and it was obvious that no one was supposed to cross it. I’ve always wondered if the guy had been tempted by one of these spirits and risked it. The thing about this kind of devil spirit is that somehow it gets a person to actually consider doing a really stupid thing, if only for a second. But what happens in that second is life changing one way or the other. These dare devil spirits go for the jugular; they don’t fool around and death is their aim.
After being rescued from this several times in my younger years, I now know what to do when the dare devil throws me a fast ball. Slam him out of the park! I rely on the authority in the name of Jesus Christ and speak to the spirit directly (just like when Jesus talked directly to the fig tree). I say, “Shut up and get away from me right now, in the name of Jesus Christ.”  I know and believe James 4:7 that says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” And I believe and claim Philippians 2:9-10, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.” Dare devil spirits are things, so they have to bow too! God truly does have the best answer for every situation!

PERSONAL NOTE: I write these articles to help regular people like you and me. I don’t write them because I have all the perfect doctrine figured out or because I always make the right decisions. God has me share my weaknesses, errors, and sins, because He knows what He got when He got me and He knows I’m not afraid to expose my mistakes. In all these experiences the Lord has never let me go, but has made me knowledgeable and given me understanding. He’s provided me with specific keys, implements and weapons to share with others so that together we can overcome, conquer and rise in victory over any of life’s obstacles . I love you very much. In Christ, Carolyn

DO YOU EVER GRIPE ABOUT THINGS OR PEOPLE? - Beneath the Veil no.44

Last night my foreman texted me to say I could take the day off while they decided on the next step. We’d worked 9 days straight with overtime and yesterday I was crawling on my knees all day long doing baseboards, so I was sore and tired. But when he texted, in return I thanked him for the work they’d given me so far. After working long hours one is tempted to gripe rather than be thankful. But thankfulness is a great cure for the tendency to complain.
“Thank you.” These words aren’t said nearly enough. How much better would we feel if people thanked us more often? Think about it. It means that someone first of all had to take notice. And when someone tells us “thanks,” it means a positive effort, action, and decision, was made on our behalf. It’s like a baby compliment for something we said or did. And who doesn’t need a few more kudos and compliments now and then?
Okay, then what about when there’s a lack of thanks? Being thankful shows appreciation. So a lack of thanks brings depreciation. If we stop looking for things to be thankful for, the true value of the thing or person quickly deteriorates in our minds and hearts. If we let it go too far we can lose something or someone great.
We don’t want to let our relationships with good people depreciate just because we forget to say thank you. The same goes for our relationship with God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
It takes concentrated time and practice and we may have to reach deep but God tells us it’s available “in everything [to] give thanks” (1 Thess 5:18). Let’s grab our minds and make the effort to start saying and receiving “thank yous” like they really mean something. Our lives will be more blessed if we do.
Love, Carolyn

DO EVIL SPIRITS LIVE IN MASKS?

I want to know so much more—like how Paul’s handkerchiefs and aprons could heal someone and deliver them from devil spirits. (See Acts 19:11-13) I don’t know how it works. But I sure would like to see it. I’d also like to know more about the recent phrase going around, called “partnering up.”

About the Holy Spirit occupying a material object, I’m not aware of ever s...eeing it yet, but I do know that something similar happens when evil spirits occupy material objects. I once saw a painting that was the home of a demon. I was a visiting nurse helping a man who was in a wheelchair. Over his bed hung a small painting of someone’s face. It was dark blood red, purple, black and blue, muddy brown and gray. It was ugly and evil but it beckoned me to look and when I did, I was jolted. The face moved!

And not just once, but every time I snuck a peek, it moved again and changed in form and tried to come out of the frame. I know this sounds like a movie, right? But it was real. This happened every time I went to this guy’s house. I was just beginning my journey as a committed Christian, so I had no idea what to do, so I just told my boss I wouldn’t go back there and she gave me new clients. That experience made me aware of the possibility of objects having devil spirit occupation. I don’t go looking for demons on every doorknob but if the Lord leads me to see and do, I know it’s for real!

A friend once asked me to come do a house blessing and spiritually check out the house she was moving into. I could sense that a devil spirit lived in a small closed sink area. I told the friend she needed to have the landlord get rid of that sink. It didn’t happen and in a year or so, she had a very large fire start in that area and consequently decided to move. But I have also been in a house filled with masks and other objects used in idol worship. I expected an evil presence to be in at least a few of those objects, but they were clean—just wood and paint.

And as to partnering up with people, I’m aware of some really awful results of good people going into business with unethical ones. And every parent tries to keep their children from hanging around kids who are a bad influence. But what about connecting with people who have qualities we’d like to have or even learn more about—partnering upward? We can see in the Bible wonderful benefits of this collaboration. A few good examples are Lot with Abraham, Ruth with Boaz and Peter with Jesus.

Sometimes we are blind to what’s really going on in our own lives. We are looking for the big breakthroughs, the big dramatic explosions, and we miss the subtleties that may be even more lasting and in some ways significant beyond the showy things.
I told my best friend I wanted to write about the power of the Holy Spirit being present in objects at times, but I didn’t really understand it yet. I wanted to talk about the great benefits of partnering upward, but I didn’t have anything really big come to mind. I told my friend I was a little discouraged.

Then she told me about listening to a recent teaching from a preacher she likes. He had talked about how a certain military leader said that in battle you had to gain some ground and then hold it. It could look small, but it was better to hold onto it until you were prepared to go for more. If you jumped the gun, you could lose it all. My friend explained that even though I didn’t always have the spectacular stories to tell, I was still holding the ground I had gained so far.

She told me that even though I hadn’t yet experienced the positive spiritual power in an object, it wasn’t that I didn’t believe it’s possible. I could study the subject more in the Bible and ask the Lord to give me understanding. I could also listen to some teachings on this.

As for the good and profitable benefits of partnering upward, I started to re-examine my relationships and realized I was already getting so many benefits from the relationships I have, and that part of holding my ground is taking care of and really appreciating what I’ve got.

I'm not yet where I want to be, but God has taken good care of me. I’m in a good place and I’m holding my ground.

Love, Carolyn

RAPE AT ORIENTATION - Beneath the Veil no.43

Summer of 1969. The orientation was over and I was headed back to the dorm. I was a stranger and alone in that Illinois farm town, a displaced hippie from San Francisco. Peace, love and Jesus had been my life for some time now and I felt out of place here. I toted a big leather, fringed handbag that I’d made myself. I wore my combat boots under a long paisley skirt. My hair was long, my legs and armpits unshaven and I was a California flower child.  But no flowers for me on this day.
It was a sticky hot July and I was anxious to get back to the air conditioning. A car pulled up as I walked along, “You want a ride?” I hesitated at first but I was from San Francisco where hitchhiking was my norm for transportation. I said, “Okay, thanks,” and got in. Big mistake.
As we drove toward the edge of town I said, “This isn’t the way to the dorm.” And I panicked. There were three of them and I was in the back seat. I quickly opened the door and tried desperately to get out. I scraped my boot and twisted my leg trying to escape. One of them grabbed me and pulled me back in. He threatened me and locked the door.
All I could see was corn fields. The car stopped. “Me first,” the cocky one in the front said. He exchanged seats with the guy in the back and raped me. Then the second one did the same. Frankly, the details are a blur. Then it was the third guy’s turn.
I could feel his hesitation. The other two got out of the car and I just started witnessing to the kid. I told him the Lord Jesus wouldn’t be too happy with him if he went through with this. I told him God loved him and had better things in mind for him. I told him enough about the Lord’s love and got him born again right there.
Without touching me, he yelled out to his friends that he was done. They got back in the car and he talked them into driving me back to town. The cocky one threatened to find me and kill me if I ever told. I had to go back to school there the very next month so I never told—I was too scared. The nightmares came but I eventually healed.
When I look back, I wonder how I had the nerve to talk to a rapist about my Lord Jesus. But it just happened and that night changed his life for ever. Fortunately for me, I didn’t get pregnant or have health or mental issues as a result of the rape. I was just thankful to be alive.
But the most amazing thing to me was that in the midst of this terrifying situation I got this young man born again. It was my fault for getting into the car, but it was the mercy and love of God that got me out and brought another lost soul with me to the Lord Jesus Christ.
And if any of you three ever read this, I forgive you.
Love, Carolyn

HOW TO GROW BIGGER GOD EARS

“Blah blah blah blah blah blah.” My roommate was talking but my mind was racing ahead on something else and I didn’t hear a word she said. Some of us have the habit of letting our minds go ahead of where our bodies are. We mentally live a bit in the future and not in the present. So what does that have to do with “growing bigger God ears?”

If we don’t slow down enough ...to listen to each other, we will also be racing past listening to the Lord. First John 4:20 says, “For he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” Listening is an act of love.

If we want to get better at hearing from God, one step we can take in the right direction is to start practicing our listening skills with each other.

Here are a couple tips that can help:

1.Have some paper and a pen on hand. Ask a question and after listening to the answer, write it down to see if you really listened!

2.Ask a question and then after you get the answer, repeat it back to the person to see if you got it right.

These are two very simple and practical ways to build our listening skills with each other. AND we can also use these with our Lord. Try it this week with the people around you and with the Lord too and let me know how it works out.

I saw this yesterday and wanted to share: “To live in the moment is a gift. That’s why they call it the present!”

Love, Carolyn

LENDING MONEY TO JESUS?? - Beneath the Veil no.42

I wanted to give something to my favorite bank teller who’s having her first baby. I didn’t know exactly what, but then the Lord Jesus told me to give her $100. He didn’t tell me in an audible voice, but more like an urging or prompting from within me. It shocked me because that was a big amount for someone I didn’t really know very well. I questioned Jesus, “Are you sure? Am I just making this up?”

This time I heard the words, “No, you’re not making this up. Give her a hundred dollar bill and a card.” I was still a little doubtful, and my mind was shouting right back at me, “You don’t even give that much to the people you know!”.... “This is weird!”.... “You don’t need to give her that much!”.... “You need that money!” I didn’t know exactly what I would do.

But I’m working on trusting Jesus Christ with all my financial decisions, so I thought maybe this was part of testing my trust, so I went for it. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” In all thy ways. Well, spending money is one of my ways, so I’m making a conscious effort to really involve the Lord with every bit of it.

I answered Him, “Okay, I’m going to do this.” The Lord’s desire was to bless my pregnant bank teller and me too. He led me to Proverbs 19:17 where it says, “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will He pay him again.” I thought that was pretty wild, “lending to the Lord”?

I knew that when my teller opened that card and found the hundred dollar bill she would be totally shocked. She would never expect money from such an unusual source. Then the thought hit me and I said out loud, “As long as I’m giving it, I think I’ll plant it as seed for money coming back to me from an unusual source too.”

The Lord didn’t waste any time in getting me back the money I let Him borrow to bless this girl! When I came home my roommate gave me exactly $100; she knew nothing about me giving my teller $100. Then, the very next day I got a check in the mail from my mortgage company for $108. That was an unusual source! I also received another $100 that day that didn’t come from my paycheck. So I lent Jesus $100 and He gave me back $300, plus $8 extra! Wild, right?

Trusting the Lord Jesus Christ with my money decisions has sure been a blessing and I can hardly wait to see what other magnificent money maneuvers He has in store for me.

Love, Carolyn

QUESTIONS FOR PONDERING OR DISCUSSION:
1.Have you had times when the Lord asked you to give money to someone or something unusual? Did you do it? What was the outcome?
2.Can you recall receiving money from unusual places? What about times you didn’t have to pay as much as you thought or you received an item for free that you thought you were going to have to pay for?
3.In what other ways has the Lord blessed you financially?

FOR FURTHER STUDY: Deuteronomy 15:7-8, 2 Kings 8:6, Nehemiah 5:11-12, Psalm 126:1-6, Proverbs 22:9, Proverbs 19:17, Proverbs 28:27, Ecclesiastes 11:1, Isaiah 1:19, Luke 6:38, 2 Corinthians 9:6, 9,

The preceding is one of the chapters from my book WINGS: A Journey in Faith . One reader said, “It’s like reading a spiritual reality show!” By sharing my daily discoveries and spiritual adventures, my goal is that others will be able to apply what I’ve learned also.

IMPALED ON HIS OWN SPEAR - PT.2 of GETTING RID OF EVIL PEOPLE BEFORE THEY GET RID OF YOU

He told me, “We’re running out of copper paint.” I said, “Okay, I’ll make some.” It would take some time so I immediately started up on the mixing process. Meanwhile he went out into the other part of the warehouse where we were doing a 5-step faux finish process to make metal panels look like wood. Typicall...y he ignored the other workers and began on a section of panels he could call his own. I had no idea of the coup he was planning and the trap he’d set for me, so I went about my business happily mixing paint.

When I’d finished, I did a few other necessary things to set up for the next part of the process, which kept me away from the goings on in the main part of the warehouse even longer.

When I got back to the panels I could tell he’d rushed through the steps to get as many panels done as possible. The room was 3/4s full of his completed panels. He was so proud of the production—he’d completed way more than my partner and I had done, especially with the delay of me having to mix more paint. Then it hit me and I spiritually knew what he was up to.

This guy was what the Bible calls a “son of Belial, “a worker of iniquity.” He was looking to climb up as far as he could go and it didn’t matter who he had to step on to get there. He always remained aloof, was not a team player, did things on his own terms and tried to be in control, though he was never given that authority.

Three others were above him in the chain of command and he didn’t like it. He wanted to be running the job and definitely wanted me out of the way. He brought discord into the group and everyone was uneasy with him around. He was always scheming and mentally critical of everyone. He would wander around the warehouse and offices and act like he was special. We never quite knew what he was up to but we had the weird feeling that he was spying on us and spewing lies about us to the higher boss. His bad-mouthing had already caused more than one person to lose his position. He would pretend to be real friendly, but then turn on the person. His characteristics were typical of those described as belonging to sons and daughters of Belial. So what to do?

I began to come to work early and park in a remote spot, where I’d get out my verses—those psalms of David that are specific weapons (spears) against people like this. I prayed them out loud with conviction. This guy was NOT GOOD for any of us there. By the grace of God, I knew what to do and I did it.

Back to my story: This worker of iniquity sent me to mix paint so that my production would be low. Then he sped up and finished multiple panels. His plan was to show how bad I was and how great he was. But God had something else in mind.

The big boss came in and started looking at the pieces. He was horrified. He called me and another lead person over and started handing us the panels, “This one has to be done over. This one too, and this one and this one!” By the time he’d finished, there were 40-plus panels that had to be re-done. And you guessed it... all done by the SOB!

His plan failed miserably. He’d gotten me out of the way so he could show off for the boss and instead of being rewarded, he was made to look really bad, so bad that the boss sent him out of town on a different job for a week. At the time I thought, “I wouldn’t be surprised if he never comes back.”

What actually happened is that he did come back—for one day. He was in street clothes and he resigned! I found out later that God got him so far out of the way, the guy took a job half way around the world—in China!

One of the spears I’d been repeating each morning was Psalm 7:15, “He made a pit and dug it out, and has fallen into the ditch which he made.” That certainly came to pass! Praise God!

Just a few words to those of you who have been beaten and hurt by these people and maybe lost, or are losing the battle. It’s bad, but you’ll be okay in the end. God will never allow you to go through something you can’t handle. And now if you ever get into a situation like this again, you will know exactly what it is and what to do for your victory. If you have encountered these SOBs, know that you are mightier through Christ. Use the weapons God’s provided.

Love, Carolyn

GET RID OF EVIL PEOPLE BEFORE THEY GET RID OF YOU - Beneath the Veil No.41

Too many of my friends have been fired, pushed out of their jobs or are being attacked right now by evil people who possess high positions or are avidly seeking them. I wish this was a fairy tale but it’s not. Those of you who have experienced it or are experiencing it now, know how terrible it is. I’m going to share God’s plan for you to be ab...le to take them down BEFORE they take you.

The Bible calls these powerful people “sons of Belial” or “workers of iniquity.” They willfully serve the devil and they attack Christians. Though we haven’t heard much about them in church, they are exposed over and over in the Bible. Their methods and characteristics remain the same and once you are aware of them, you will never NOT recognize them again.

In this article I’ll take the time to expose who they are and what they do. In next Sunday’s I give a real life incident and more about how to get rid of them.

They are “merchandisers of men” (2 Pet 2:3), using good hard-working people to work for them. Often they try to learn or extract skills from good people then use the skills to step on and over them to get to the top. They plot, manipulate and control. Often they are not the spokesperson, but the one behind the scenes, calling the punches. They oppress and strip people of personal idiosyncrasies. They would rather have an obedient automaton than a skilled worker who has a personality. In fact they don’t even care about your skills or how good you are at your job. Those are not attractive features anymore with these sons and daughters of Belial.

They desire to be applauded and put on a pedestal for all their good charitable works; but behind the scenes they are out to take down anyone they perceive as being in their way. They speak peace and work wickedness at the same time, speaking out of both sides of their mouths. They are extremely sneaky and try to befriend and snare people with their smooth words. They are never to be trusted.

As Proverbs 6:17-18 tells us, they have “a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.” These are just some of the general characteristics of these sons of Belial, or as Dr. Dale Sides calls them, SOBs. (I call them that too.) I suggest getting Dale’s booklet, Exposing Sons of Belial : Identifying and Overcoming Children of the Devil. The booklet is inexpensive and packed with information; it is because of the revelation in this booklet that I was able to overcome and defeat an SOB that entered into my own realm of influence. (I will tell you more about that in Sunday’s post.)

Just like Jesus defeated the devil in the wilderness with “the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God,” we can do the same. But what we believe and what we say has to be pertinent to the situation and the devil involved. God’s Word specifically tells us, “The sons of Belial cannot be taken with hands.” In other words, hand to hand combat DOES NOT WORK! You can’t afford to get too close to these powerful possessed people. They will recognize who you are.

“But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear” (2 Sam 23:7). If you are holding the staff of a spear, then there’s distance between you and the enemy. This is important to remember. You don’t want to try to talk to these people or make friends or try to love them. You can’t love the devil.

God is willing to take them back if they repent (see Ezekiel 18:32). But you are probably not going to be the one to deliver them. Of all the Christians Paul murdered, not one was able to deliver him; Jesus had to do it Himself! So don’t try to be a hero.

David was attacked by SOBs many times. Because of this, we have an entire arsenal of specific weapons God gave David to pierce these evil ones and bring them down. Many are found in the Psalms. These spears are sharp and not for the weak hearted; but if you or your friends are being attacked, you need the strongest, sharpest swords to win the battle. And, you must BELIEVE in their inherent power because they are God’s words.

“Let the high praises of God be in [our] mouth, and a two-edged sword in [our] hand, to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute on them the written judgment—This honor have all His saints. Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 149:6-9)

Following are the powerful scriptures I have successfully used. I say them almost every day. This coming Sunday’s article includes a list of others you can look up and use if they suit you better. Fight on to victory!

“God is angry with the wicked [SOBs] every day. If he [a SOB] does not turn back, He [God] will sharpen His sword; he bends His bow and makes it ready. He [God] also prepares for Himself instruments of death; he makes His arrows into fiery shafts. Behold, the wicked travails with iniquity, conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood. He made a pit and dug it out, and has fallen into the ditch which he made. His trouble shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown” (Psalm 7:11-16).

“Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see; and make their loins shake continually” (Psalm 69:23).

“Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor who seek after my life; Let those be turned back and brought to confusion who plot my hurt. Let them be like chaff before the wind, and let the angel of the Lord chase them. Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the Lord pursue them” (Psalm 35:4-6)

NOTE: When the word “let” is used, we are the ones “letting.” We give the authority, but the angels do the doing! Satan has protected the SOBs and he has paid them well. They think they cannot fail, but without the heavy devil spirits, they will absolutely shrivel. When we pray these psalms, God’s angels attack the devil spirits that are protecting and helping the SOBs, and they are utterly stripped of their power over us.

“Their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken” (Psalm 37:12-15).

“Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you” (2 Thess 1:6).

“God shall likewise destroy you [SOBs] forever. He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and uproot you from the land of the living. Selah” (Psalm 52:5)

“Let death seize them; Let them go down alive into hell, for wickedness is in their dwellings and among them” (Psalm 55:15).

“Break their teeth in their mouth, O God! Break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord! Let them flow away as waters which run continually; when he bends his bow, Let his arrows be as if cut in pieces. Let them be like a snail which melts away as it goes. Like a stillborn child of a woman, that they may not see the sun” (Psalm 58:6-8)

“Set a wicked man over him [SOB], and let an accuser stand at his right hand. When he is judged, let him be found guilty, and let his prayer become sin. Let his days be few, and let another take his office. Let the creditor seize all that he has, and let strangers plunder his labor. Let there be none to extend mercy to him” (Psalm 109:6-12).

If you still think that this is too harsh of a message then you probably haven’t been aware of SOB persecutions. The unfortunate thing is that if we are in their sites and we don’t start using these verses immediately, it’s much harder and sometimes impossible to get rid of them or escape their evil deeds.

But honestly, speaking these psalms against them is the most loving thing we can do. It can force them into a place where they would have a chance to see how horrible the devil really is and they could turn around like the Apostle Paul.

Enough for now. Stay tuned for Sunday’s post on an attack by an SOB and the great results of using these word spears to a victorious end. Also included will be a list of more of the scriptures God gave David to use against them.

Stay strong. I pray for all of you.

Love, Carolyn
